| 1. Title: [Haitian plants and antifertility] Plantes d'Haiti et antifecondite. Author: Weniger B; Haag-Berrurier M; Anton R Source: Planta Medica. 1980 Jul;39(3):260. Abstract: Traditional medicine in Haiti is still very much practiced; it is based on the use of at least 20 well known plants reputed to have antifertility and abortifacient properties. The chemical study of Casearia ilicifolia and Stemodia durantifolia was followed by tests conducted on rats; the plants did not seem to have an antifertility action. However, tests conducted with extracts of Casearia ilicifolia and of Eleutherine bulbosa proved to produce fetal toxic effects, thus showing the probable abortifacient property of the plants.
